Elm Grove Junior Guild Announces 2015 Grant Recipients
From E.M.T. training, fire protection, and the D.A.R.E. program to covering the cost of Milwaukee school children’s most basic needs, fundraising efforts of the Elm Grove Junior Guild make a huge impact within our village and throughout southeastern Wisconsin. The 2014 Tree of Giving Gala successfully raised over $40,000 for our village and local charities. We are pleased to announce the following 2014-15 grant recipients:
Association of Ladies of Charity
$7,000 granted to cover the need for socks and underwear for students in Milwaukee County, Kindergarten through grade 12, so they can attend school.
Family Services of Waukesha
$5,000 granted to the C.A.R.E. Center program which works together with social workers, pediatricians, advocates, law enforcement personnel and prosecutors who help children and families when there are allegations of abuse.
My Home, Your Home
$5,000 granted toward Lissy’s Place, which provides transitional housing to young women, building opportunity and self-sufficiency.
$7,500 granted to the Legal Services for Survivors of Domestic Abuse program, which helps clients successfully navigate the legal system so they can focus on their family, employment and education.
$5,000 to Best Buddies’ school chapter program, which matches students with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in friendships. Students with IDD learn valuable social skills that give them confidence, aiding in their employment and self-sufficiency.
