2024 MEMORIAL DAY PARADE GUIDELINES
The Elm Grove annual Memorial Day Parade will be held at 10:30 am on Memorial Day.
Purpose: To Commemorate and Honor those servicemen and servicewomen who died while actively serving in the United States of America’s Armed Forces.
- All participants should ensure that their entry focuses on the true purpose of the Memorial Day Parade – honoring our veterans – not on self-promotion. This includes ALL signage or handouts. For example, “Zisters Restaurant Honors Those Who Have Served This Country” would be an allowed banner. “Come Eat at Zisters Restaurant” would not be allowed. The Parade Committee reserves the right to make the final decision regarding this matter.
- Participants should notify the parade chairperson at least two weeks prior to the parade if they will not be in the parade. Email memorialday@elmgrovejunorguild.org to contact the organizers. The Parade Committee is not responsible for locating parade vehicles. That is the responsibility of each entry.
- There will be NO THROWING OF ANYTHING from the street to the audience. You may walk along the side of the road and HAND OUT candy, etc. This includes candy, souvenirs, etc. This is due to the safety of the parade watchers. We do not want children running into the street to collect the handouts.
- NO parade acts will be allowed to STOP and perform. Acts must be moving at all times.
- Participants must report to the parade site at the agreed upon time prior to the start of the parade.
- Parking: There will be NO vehicles or acts will be allowed to leave any area adjacent to the parade route while the parade is still going on. You must wait until the final act to leave the area with a vehicle.
-
Drop Off: All drop offs before the parade will be at Elm Grove Park. You must drive north to south on Legion Drive. There are two drop off locations. The first location is at the footbridge off of Legion and Elmhurst. The second location is at the flag pole outside of the town hall building. Please access this location through the main park entrance off of Legion. Only vehicles participating in the parade will be allowed to drive past the flag poles. All other vehicles will be directed to exit on Juneau.
Please arrive between 8:45 and 9:15 am (streets will close shortly after this). We suggest that bands, scouts, and other groups meet prior to the parade at one of the local schools (St. Mary’s Visitation or Tonawanda Elementary) and walk the short distance to the park together.
- PLEASE remember to use extra caution while driving!
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THESE ITEMS!
LET’S ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE PARADE!
